Sponsorship of Relatives (Family Class)

Through family class sponsorship, Canadian citizens and permanent residents have the option to sponsor their dependent children, parents, and grandparents. The sponsorship application process necessitates that the sponsor provides financial proof that they are capability of supporting their loved one in Canada, and meet the other requirements essential for sponsoring their family member.

Sponsorships for Couples (married, common-law, and same-sex or queer partners)

For those in common-law relationships, after cohabiting for one year, you are eligible to sponsor your partner for Permanent Residency. Canada’s immigration policies afford equal rights to same-sex or queer partnerships, both married and unmarried, mirroring those of opposite-sex or non-queer couples. Further, the requirement for cohabitation of one year may not apply to same-sex or queer couples.
